Tony Bassett

- About
- Tony Bassett began his writing career at the age of nine when he produced a magazine at his Kent junior school. Then in his teens he wrote plays – including one staged at his local vicarage.
At Hull University he won a Time-Life student journalist award, which helped launch his career in journalism. He mainly worked for the Sunday People, both in the newsroom and investigations department.
Tony has never forgotten the great times he had as a young journalist working for the Worcester Evening News. So when he took early retirement from his reporting career, he decided to write a series of crime novels set in the West Midlands. Three books in the series have already been written and a fourth is in the pipeline. The first MURDER ON OXFORD LANE was published in January 2022.
All these novels follow the fortunes of a middle-aged male detective and his twenty-five-year-old female sergeant.
Tony has five grown-up children who live in South Wales. He lives in South-East London with his partner, Lin. He enjoys playing the piano and researching his family tree.
