Denver Murphy
- About
- As a history teacher Denver has always appreciated the power of words but his reflections on the past have recently switched to the present. Working at various levels in state secondary schools for the last twenty years have shone a spotlight on the issues affecting modern society and writing crime fiction has become an outlet for examining those which concern him the most. Whilst such novels explore the dark recesses of the human psyche they also allow us to celebrate those who stand firm for what is right and decent.
Denver’s literary influences are wide-reaching, with the greatest single impact coming from the Stephen King novels he devoured as a teenager. For Denver it was less about the horror genre and more that King refused to keep to the accepted norm that good will always triumph over evil. A reflection of true life, the notion that no character is safe has been popularised in more recent times by George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire and the hugely successful resulting Game of Thrones television series.
